My next break came at near the end of July. July was very warm or should I say hot month but I needed to take a break. I purchased a ticket for the Medora Musical decided to go ahead and go. I found a nice Campground not far from Medora. The afternoon was very hot. So to stay out of the heat I got a ticket to go for the enactment of Teddy Roosevelt in the old theater. There was air conditioning there!. Then that evening I went over to the outdoor amphitheater for the musical it was a good show in spite of the heat.

The next day I decided it was just too hot to do much exploring around North Dakota so I started south. I stopped at the farm got a shower and then down to Spearfish where I found a campground in the canyon. It was so much cooler there where I spent a couple of days. On Sabbath I went to the Spearfish Church and had a nice afternoon with them.

After church I went into town and stopped by a little creek that ran through took off my socks and shoes and put my feet in the cool water then called my sis. Today was my birthday and we always have a good visit.

On Wednesday’s, I would have the day off, so my friend Ketty and I would take a drive and see sites close to the farm.

September came along , I was getting ready to go to my 50th class reunion in Missouri. I had a few days be for I left. Since I was leaving out of Rapid city I spent a day up in the black hills.

I flew out of Rapid city to Chicago then to Columbia MO. From Chicago to Columbia was terrible connection. But I got into my motel room late that evening. The next day, Friday I had some time to see the sites around the Academy.

It was a good weekend to catch-up with classmates, to see all the changes and improvements on the campus.
Then December came and I was able to to see my boys for the holidays I was so concentrated on driving I didn’t take a whole lot of pictures. All in all I did over 3,000 miles on this trip. I was able to stop at my place in New Mexico for about 3 days and then on to Texas for Christmas. Then it was a drive into Kansas to be with the other son. He had the job of cutting down three of his cedar trees. One of the trees about blew over during the wind storm. I helped load branches and wood cuttings into a trailer so they could move them to the dump site. It was quite a chore. I had a great visit with him during that time. My last day there it’s snowed about 3 inches but by the next morning most of it was gone. And I was on my way back to the farm.

See why they needed to come down!
On my way back to North Dakota I stop at Thedford Nebraska for the night. Driving through town the next morning I saw statue of the two girls. Apparently the girls got lost in the Prairie and this was a memorial for them.

So that ends my travels for 2021. What are year, but I enjoyed it so much.
