After Eden Valley Summer

It was the weekend of the last day of the produce market October 1st, for the summer of 2022. I left on Sabbath afternoon and met up with friends in Longmont then spent the night there at the fair grounds RV park.

On Sunday I traveled down to Canon City where I was meeting with some other friends and spending the night there.

On Monday morning I drove Salida Colorado I took some time and went to the shops downtown parked near the Arkansas River had my lunch.

The rest area before Pancha Pass

That evening I met up with my friends again just before Pancha pass. We spent the night at the rest area and then on Monday morning we crossed the down to Mosca campgrounds.

At one time it was a state park but because of not being able to get water they closed the park. It now part of Colorado wild life and so one can dry camp there now they still have trash pickup dump station and electricity. Sorry no water in the Lake!

Mike would make a fire in the evenings and we would sit and visit. A couple of times we’d cook our suppers over the fire.

One day we went over the area of Hooper and just out a ways was the Sand Dune Recreation Area that had the hot springs pools. We enjoyed the day there, the water that day was 108 no cooling off even a super hot shower afterwards! The Steel Box, which was just a container, that they had put in a bar and adults could come and enjoy the hot pool and have drinks, the next best thing to being in Florida!

These are some of the pictures that I took of the Great Sand Dunes.

It was a cold, misty, day so we didn’t take a lot of time to walk around.

On Friday it was time to leave my friends and head south into New Mexico it rained off and on most of the day.

These pictures I took coming down from Colorado into New Mexico on road 285 before Santa Fee

Friday evening I found my spot for the night just outside of Edgewood New Mexico it was a “hip camp” which is usually on land next to the owners of the property. The owner came out to meet me and told me just to pull into the field and park for the night. It was a beautiful night and the rain lulled me to sleep. Sabbath morning I got up and got ready for church. When I was ready to leave I started up the van turned up the heat but we weren’t going anywhere it wasn’t going to happen. I was stuck in the mud! I called the owner and she came out and we tried and tried and tried to help me get out unstuck but to no avail she called some neighbors and asked for their help and they tried and they tried still I was still stuck in the mud. Then another neighbor came over with the tractor. By now after 2 and a half hours we were all muddy and soaking wet for it was still raining but the fellow with the tractor finally was able to pull me out. By now it was out of the question for me to go to church for it was almost time for it to be over with, it being close to noon. I thanked everyone, I gave my host a hug for all the hard work she had done. I headed out and went South heading home. I was so anxious to get home that I didn’t take time to stop and take pictures. I arrived back at the ranch, the RV Park , my home, before dark. Oh what a day!

The flower bed on my lot.

Sunday morning I started the challenge of unpacking the van trying to find a place to put all my things. Getting into the camper and assessing what needed to be done to be kind of livable. I had clean out the refrigerator so I could unload the fridge from the van. And then it was going through all the dishes washing them all and putting them in bins. So the next few days going through and putting things away doing the laundry everyday was a packed full day of things to do. My new house was to arrive on Friday and I knew that there would be things that I’d want to do in it before I could move in. On Thursday morning I got a call about 6:30 a.m. saying that the fella that had picked up my house was in Atoka which is about 15 minutes drive from here. I was still asleep so I grabbed my things and headed out to meet him. I was excited to see my little house! I had him take it down to the storage area here at the RV Park. There it’s where I could work on painting, polyurethane the baseboards and the countertop,as well as speaking with the board and working with them to try and get the tiny house on my lot. So much to do, and so much to think about. Taking pictures was just not what I was thinking of.

The inside of the tiny house , finishing the counter top and wood trim.

The Rosemary bush on my lot had just exploded in the time I was gone. I had planted that Rosemary from a $4 pot in in 2019 so trimming it was a must!

I think the month of October was packed full!! So I will end this blog. I hope to get more pictures and stories out soon. I hope you enjoyed my journey. Let me know in the comments what you think.
